One day my wife was standing in the electronics line at our local Wal-Mart. A young lady was on her phone talking to her employer. This lady commenced to tell her employer that she was “right now” at the hospital and had been there all day. She told her employer, as she coughed profusely, how she had been violently throwing up all day and the doctors had not yet discovered what her problem was. As soon as she hung up the phone, she walked over to her male partner and proclaimed with a sense of glee, “Well, we’ve got the whole day off now.” My wife was repulsed by this young lady’s willingness to make up such a huge lie, just to get a day off work. Michele was so tempted to confront the lady about her lie, but wisely chose not to.

Here’s the moral of this story. When as a culture, we fail to instill biblical morality in the hearts and minds of our children, our entire culture suffers. This precious young lady is surviving rather than thriving because she has been taught that lying is a normal coping mechanism. She is missing out on so many great opportunities that integrity would provide her. Her employer is suffering because they have an untruthful, untrustworthy employee.

Immorality is destroying the American culture. Honest, hardworking, disciplined employees are becoming more difficult to find every day. We must once again give children the moral foundation that will help them to succeed and will renew our American culture.
